What SnapCut does
-
Capture from the menu bar
Capture an area, a window or a full screen. Use your own shortcuts or capture the last selected area again.
-
Editable annotations
Add arrows, lines, rounded rectangles, text, numbered steps and freehand highlights. Move, resize, undo and redo your edits.
-
Opaque redaction
Cover sensitive content in shared images. Exports contain a flattened PNG; editable originals remain in local history until removed.
-
Copy, save or drag
Copy your image, save a PNG to your chosen folder, or drag it into Finder or an app that accepts image files.
-
Pin a reference
Keep an image above other windows while you work. The reference follows your confirmed edits.
-
History on your terms
Reopen previous captures and choose how long originals and edits stay on your Mac. Saved files are yours to keep.
Private and local
SnapCut keeps screenshots and edits on your Mac. No account, analytics or cloud uploads. History is kept for 30 days by default, with a retention period you can change. Exported PNGs are never removed by history cleanup. Your own backup or folder-sync services may keep separate copies.
